SEP 15, 2010 "True TCP/IP" Access Control System vs RS485 based system
RS485 based system
[A typical RS485 based system diagram is needed]
Disadvantages:
Planning diagram is needed
can only work on local network
slow and is limited by wiegand
maximum # of devices on a single network is 32
easy to lose data and relies on controller to user interaction
True TCP/IP based system
[The planning diagram for a True TCP/IP based system should not be "RS485"-like as below and in fact, no planning diagram is needed at all. Simply Plug & Play !]
Advantages:
No planning diagram is needed.(Technically, TCP/IP network planning diagram is independent of the location of True TCP/IP based devices)
Simply plug & play
Scalable and limited by IPv4 (~ 4 billion)
Fast and Reliable
run on local network and Internet

iGuard Installation Made Easy - Master/Slave Networking
Annie has been working for Lucky Group for almost 40 years. She has no technical background. After a 10 minutes training, with almost no supervision, she installed 10 units of iGuard on a TCP/IP network in master/slave mode. This has demonstrated that iGuard is a true TCP/IP plug & play device
